Shout out to Marla!

Our Marla Johnson is retiring after 28 years as the Executive Director of Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center. The center was founded in 1978 and Marla assumed leadership in 1993.

Marla has been a visionary missionary of hope personally

and through her staff and volunteers to thousands over these years. She has waved a banner for a future where violence and abuse are not tolerated in Hays and Caldwell Counties of Texas. We cheer and celebrate with her in this time of transition.

In the most recent reporting year HCWC had an operating budget of $3,765,000 and served 2,023 victims of domestic abuse with 40% of those children. This year will see the completion of an 18-unit Transitional Housing Complex after four years of planning and fundraising.

On Sunday, December 27, 2020, San Marcos Daily Record ran a front page feature article on Marla titled A job well done.

John Maxwell, the leadership guru says,

“Everything rises and falls on leadership,”

Marla has led HCWC well so they could do good.
