On the Third Sunday in Advent we light the candle of Love.

It is because God loved us so very much that we celebrate the coming of God’s Son to be among us. The love that God calls us to is a love that works to affirm humanity, to dismantle oppression, to liberate those bound by oppression.

Jesus taught his disciples in John 15 that they should love

one another as he had loved them so that the world would know they were his disciples. This continues to be our call — to love courageously, completely, creatively,

so that the world can see who Jesus is.

Scripture: Isaiah 61: 1-4, 8-11

God of love, help us to reflect your love, help us to love courageously and completely, through our actions to ensure that all humanity may flourish because of your great love for us all. Thank you for the example you gave us in Jesus Christ; may we love as he has loved us. May it be so. Amen.

Christmas Eve

December 24

Our next-door neighbors on the Wimberley side, Iglesia Christiana de la Ressurecioń Elim, Pastor, Rev. Manuel Gomez, have offered the musical ministry of their praise band to welcome us to our Christmas Eve Celebration. From 4:45 to 5:10 they will be providing music in the portico of the church as you drive through to receive the communion elements. Tuning in to 89.3 on your FM radio, Richard and Sara and the praise band singers will lead us in singing “Joy to the World,” “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing," and “Angels We Have Heard on High.” Richard will solo, "O, Holy Night."

We will take communion together led by Gregory and sing “Silent Night” with our battery fueled candles ablaze in our cars or in your hand outside your car.

You will receive your candle and a song sheet along

with your communion kit when you drive through the portico starting at 4:45.

We look forward to this joyous celebration.

In the meantime, “God rest ye merry Gentlewomen

and Gentlemen, and your young’uns.”
