A new sermon series begins

this Sunday, April 11

We often say that First Christian Church exists to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. That is not original with us, it is the mission of the church, every church.

It is the response to the Great Commission of Jesus at the end of the Gospel of Matthew.

In these times of division and conflicting agendas and misinformation, we urgently need to find the balance to our lives that only comes from faith in the One who made us, who tells the truth, who is a loving parent willing to sacrifice on our behalf. Evidence of this is Jesus. He lived in a time of turmoil in first century Palestine. He did remarkable and unique things--healing, comforting, challenging, teaching, and calling people who were (and are) weary and burdened to follow him.

Jesus calls people today. And we who respond to that call continue to try to understand who he is and what he wants. In the last book of the Bible, Revelation 3:20, the resurrected Lord says, “behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in to them and eat with them and they with me.” For the next few Sundays from Easter to Pentecost we will examine this Jesus who invites us with, “Follow Me”. ~ Pastor Gregory
