“Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.”

– 1 John 5:10-11

Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote, “Jesus Christ lived in the midst of his enemies. At the end, all of his disciples deserted him. On the cross he was utterly alone, surrounded by evildoers and mockers. For this cause he had come, to bring peace to the enemies of God. So the Christian, too, belongs not in the seclusion of a cloistered life, but in the thick of foes.”

NOW GO AND DO . . .

"Lord, help us hunger so deeply for the freedom of all your people that we risk walking among enemies who pervert justice. Reveal to us when we ourselves act as enemies to your kingdom of justice and peace. Amen."

Plans for in-person Worship!

First Christian Church Board is making plans for our re-entry to worship in our sanctuary and hold other in-person gatherings. The first thing we are doing is sending out a survey to everyone in the next few days to determine your interests and comfort levels. If trends continue with the virus and other conditions are favorable (increased numbers of vaccinations, etc.) we would like to be back in the building before summer. To do so will require maintaining CDC guidelines for indoor gatherings, such as continuing to wear masks, and maintaining social distancing. Preparations and maintenance for sanitizing the building are also important.

Please look for the online survey this week and take the

30 seconds or so required to fill it out and return it. We know we are all looking forward to being together again soon.

Jesus of Nazareth is without question the one person who has had the greatest impact of anyone in human history.

Who is he?

A military general? A political head of state?

A Corporate Executive?

None of the above.

He was a peasant carpenter from an obscure village in an outpost of the Roman Empire in the first century AD. He was inexplicably drawn to God and felt his calling to help God’s people, all people. Led by the Spirit of God, as he himself described it, he followed a path of loving self-sacrifice. He calls us to follow him in the greatest work on earth. Here is his invitation: “Come to me all who are weary and overburdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me; for my yoke is easy and my burden is light and you shall find rest for your souls.”
